Why Farmgreene exists

A market works better when everyone can see the price

We’re closing the gap between the people who grow food and the people who buy it. The slow, unglamorous way: put people in markets, write down what things actually cost, publish it.

Farmland worked at first light

Where the numbers start

Farmers standing together in their cabbage field
The problem

The same crop, two very different prices

A farmer selling at the farm gate and a trader buying two regions away are often working from completely different ideas of what something is worth. That gap isn’t an inefficiency to anybody — it’s somebody’s margin, and it usually isn’t the farmer’s.

How we build it

Ground truth, or nothing

Four rules we hold ourselves to. They cost us speed, and they’re the reason the numbers are worth anything.

A field agent recording prices at a market
  • People, not scrapers

Every price is recorded by a verified agent against an assigned crop and area — today that's mostly one person walking markets himself. It's slower than scraping a website, and it's the only way to know a number came from a real market on a real day.

  • Nothing publishes unreviewed

Every submission arrives pending and is approved or rejected before it counts. One mistaken entry shouldn't be able to move a published average.

  • Show the working

Where we write analysis, it's built from those same approved numbers and carries the sources it drew on. If we can't ground a claim, we don't make it.

  • Say what isn't built yet

We'd rather show you a smaller product that's entirely real than a bigger one that's mostly screenshots. Anything still coming is labelled as such.

Who’s building this

Right now, mostly one person

Farmgreene is early. Worth saying plainly rather than implying a company that isn’t there yet.
